Workers at the Krug-Mondavi Winery, one of the first Napa Valley vineyards to unionize, plan to call today for a nationwide boycott of the company’s wines, under the Charles Krug and C.K. Mondavi labels, officials with the United Farm Workers said Wednesday.
The 36 workers, whose contract expired at the end of 2005, face the loss of their jobs on July 1 when the company plans to contract out its farming operations to a land manager.
The UFW contends that the subcontracting move is illegal and has filed unfair labor practice charges with the state Agricultural Labor Relations Board.
